Small-group reflection & discussion
AI Hopes, Concerns & Classroom Uses is a simple opening activity designed to surface educators’ existing perspectives on Artificial Intelligence before introducing tools, methods or theory.
Participants work in small groups to identify their hopes for AI in education, the concerns they have about its use, and practical applications they have already tried or would like to explore.
The responses are then placed on a shared board, making different perspectives visible and creating a starting point for facilitated discussion, comparison and reflection.
Start from participants
The session begins with what educators already think and experience.
Make perspectives visible
Post-it notes create a shared picture of the group’s views.
Look for patterns
Similar hopes, concerns and practices can be clustered and discussed.
Open the conversation
There are no “correct” answers. The activity creates a starting point for learning.
Participants work in small groups and share different perspectives and experiences.
Each group identifies three hopes, three concerns and three practical uses of AI in education.
Groups place their post-its on a common board and briefly explain their contributions.
The facilitator reads, clusters and explores recurring themes, differences and questions with the whole group.
Do not rush to evaluate the answers. First make the different perspectives visible, then use similarities, differences and unexpected ideas to open the discussion.
Which hopes or concerns appear more than once?
Where do participants see AI differently?
Which AI uses are already happening in our classrooms?
Which hoped-for uses would we like to explore further?
Which concerns deserve more discussion during the training?
What would we like to understand better about AI by the end of the programme?

We believe meaningful learning happens when people connect, explore and create together. NEXUS brings people, places and ideas together to experiment, learn from one another and turn real-world challenges into opportunities for learning and action.
