Practical AI in Education
The Florina activity brought together educators from across Europe for five days of hands-on exploration of Artificial Intelligence in education. The programme focused on practical classroom use, AI literacy, educational material creation and AI-supported creative thinking.
The week was organised jointly with a second Erasmus+ partnership coordinated by a Spanish school. This created a larger collaborative learning environment in which AICC participants worked alongside educators from Spain and Italy, members of the NEXUS training team, local educators, technology professionals and university students.
Within AICC, six visiting teachers from Finland, Poland and Spain participated in the activity, working together with NEXUS facilitators and the wider group throughout the week.

The week combined reflection, hands-on experimentation and collaborative creation, moving from teachers’ initial perceptions of AI to practical classroom applications.
A participatory opening activity in mixed international groups, mapping educators’ expectations, concerns and possible classroom uses of AI through post-it discussions.
Practical experimentation with AI tools for lesson planning, educational material development and creative classroom activities.
Exploring how teachers and students can understand AI-generated content, question its reliability and use AI critically and responsibly.
Using AI as a mediated creative partner in a Design Thinking challenge, combining physical Idea Cards, AI-supported empathy and guided ideation.
During the hands-on sessions, participants experimented with AI to design lesson materials, visual explanations, timelines, sketchnotes and other classroom-ready resources.

An AI-supported lesson resource comparing aspects of everyday life in Ancient and Modern Greece.

A visual timeline highlighting milestones in women’s participation in the Olympic Games.

A visual comparison created to organise historical information into an accessible classroom format.

An AI-assisted visual timeline tracing key stages in the development of rock music.

A child-friendly visual resource designed to explain the 3Rs through examples and illustrations.

An AI-supported visual developed during the Design Thinking challenge to explore accessibility and inclusive play.
The Florina activity established a shared foundation for the project, strengthening teachers’ practical AI skills and generating materials, examples and experiences that will contribute to the AICC resource library and handbook.
We believe meaningful learning happens when people connect, explore and create together. NEXUS brings people, places and ideas together to experiment, learn from one another and turn real-world challenges into opportunities for learning and action.
