AI, Creativity & Co-Creation
The Tampere activity brought students and educators together in an authentic school environment to explore AI through creativity, collaboration and critical reflection. Visiting students worked daily in multinational groups together with Finnish pupils, while teachers participated both as facilitators and as learners observing how AI-supported activities can be integrated into everyday school practice.
Five students and two teachers joined from Spain, five students and three teachers from Poland, and three NEXUS participants travelled from Greece. At the host school, two educators coordinated the programme on a daily basis, while additional teachers contributed to different parts of the week and approximately forty Finnish pupils took part in the learning activities.
Rather than focusing on a single AI tool, the programme explored the relationship between human creativity and AI through music, visual art, media literacy and design activities, while also giving visiting educators the opportunity to learn about the school’s wider approach to AI integration and policy.

The week combined reflection, hands-on experimentation and collaborative creation, moving from teachers’ initial perceptions of AI to practical classroom applications.
Students explored music and lyric creation through both traditional creative processes and AI-supported tools, comparing different ways of developing musical ideas.
AI-generated images became starting points rather than finished products: students interpreted and recreated them by hand, combining digital generation with physical artistic expression.
Students worked with multimedia examples to identify what was real and what had been generated or altered by AI, developing critical awareness of synthetic media.
In multinational teams, students designed their own city and its structures, using AI as a design partner to support ideas, exploration and decision-making.
Visiting educators explored how the Finnish school is integrating AI into teaching, learning and school development, including the practices and policies guiding its use.
The programme also offered opportunities to experience the wider learning culture of the host school and the city through maker activities, cooking, a visit to another school, outdoor learning and exploration of Tampere.
Throughout the week, students worked in multinational teams to create, interpret and redesign with AI, combining digital tools with human creativity and hands-on making.
Students experimented with songwriting and music creation through both traditional approaches and AI-supported tools.

Students used AI-generated imagery as a starting point and then recreated and interpreted the results through hand-made artwork.

Multinational teams developed ideas for their own city and its structures, using AI as a design buddy during the creative process.
The Tampere activity expanded the project from practical teacher use of AI towards student co-creation. It showed how AI can become part of creative learning without replacing human imagination, interpretation or collaboration.
We believe meaningful learning happens when people connect, explore and create together. NEXUS brings people, places and ideas together to experiment, learn from one another and turn real-world challenges into opportunities for learning and action.
